The Cizik School of Nursing (SON) uses Examsoft for on campus exams and quizzes. Examsoft is a computer-based exam suite that allows users to create, administer and grade assessments.

The ExamSoft software is made up of the following components:

  • ExamSoft Portalapplication used to build question pools, create exams, post an exam for students to take, monitor an exam while it is being taken, and process exam results
  • Examplify (installed on desktop or laptop) – the application used by students to take exams

CEIR provides support to both faculty and students in using Examsoft, including training and troubleshooting.

How to move questions in ExamSoft

Implementing Categories

Categories are tags to questions that give faculty users the means to assess learners and enhance the curriculum.

Creating a Question

Faculty users can create various questions types for assessments. All questions can be tagged with categories that will aid in the review of performance metrics and the tracking of student progress.

Creating an Assessment

Faculty users can create assessments to include questions that have been entered into ExamSoft. It is recommended to tag questions with categories to measure learning outcomes.

Introduction to Reports

Faculty can easily access the summary, scoring, item analysis, categories and history reports that can summarize the teaching and learning outcomes data needed to make changes to syllabi, curricula, or programs.

Respondus 4.0

The SON has a campus-wide license for Respondus 4.0, a Windows-based authoring tool that makes it easy to create and manage exams for off campus testing. Respondus 4.0 allows instructors to import questions from ExamSoft, Word documents, and other formats to create a Canvas quiz. Instructors wanting to use Respondus 4.0 should submit an MSIT ticket requesting the installation of the software on their desktop computers, and contact CEIR.
