A Message from the Chair

I am honored to serve as the 2017-2018 Board Chairman of PARTNERS. I am awed and inspired by the dedicated faculty and students of the UTHealth School of Nursing. PARTNERS has accomplished a lot in the last two decades, and I know there is no limit to what we can accomplish together.

PARTNERS has supported the mission of the UTHealth School of Nursing in all of their endeavors. Whether it has been a new student or advanced practice nurse, PARTNERS has provided student scholarships, faculty research grants and endowed professorships. PARTNERS has worked side by side with the Dean and her faculty to ensure that the UTHealth School of Nursing remains the US News & World Report TOP NURSING SCHOOL in the Texas Gulf Coast Region. The funding PARTNERS provides enables the School to recruit the best and brightest. When the UTHealth School of Nursing identified a need for a student study area, PARTNERS was there. PARTNERS is a part of each student’s education, starting with a patch on their first day at the university and throughout their final exams each semester with healthy snacks. The PARTNERS organization is privileged to give each graduating nurse a sterling silver nursing pin, signifying the transition from student nurse to practicing nurse.

PARTNERS shares in a vision with the UTHealth School of Nursing. A vision that has a common goal to be that "shining light on the hill," that one light that all can look for and point to as a place of stellar learning and achievement in the field of nursing.

Since 1994, PARTNERS has been inspired by a lifetime commitment to the students and faculty, who have made it their lifetime commitment to touch, listen and heal all those that are in their care. PARTNERS and the UTHealth School of Nursing will continue to build upon the success of working together to remain the best nursing school in Texas.

Please join PARTNERS; our success includes you. Together we have made, and will continue to make, a difference in our community.

Faculty Research Grants

PARTNERS provides research grants to assist faculty in their pilot projects. PARTNERS has awarded a total of 45 faculty research grants since 1996. Grants are awarded each year for pilot projects that will lead to the development of research grant proposals to be submitted for major extramural funding. These grants provide new investigators with an opportunity to begin developing a research program and experienced investigators with an opportunity to further develop their research interests.

Student Services

The PARTNERS dedicated lounge on the second floor of the School of Nursing building provides students with an environmentally state-of-the-art setting for studying, hosting activities or gathering with friends. It is available to all UTHealth students. The PARTNERS Student Services committee provides a variety of snacks and refreshments to students on exam days in the lounge. PARTNERS also provides the traditional School of Nursing pins to all Bachelor of Science students upon graduation at a special pinning ceremony.
