Associate Professor Jing Wang also serves as adjunct faculty at the UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI).  She is a 2013 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar, 2015 & 2016 TEDMED Research Scholar, received the Southern Nursing Research Society Early Science Investigator Award, and is a member of Consortium on Aging at UTHealth.

Wang teaches in the undergraduate honors program and community health clinical nursing, as well as master’s research courses. She also advises PhD students.

She is interested in interprofessional education on mobile and connected health in health care. Her research uses mobile and connected technology to optimize behavioral lifestyle interventions and improve patient-centered outcomes in type 2 diabetes and obesity, especially among the underserved communities. Through interprofessional collaborations, her research also spans patient safety, usability evaluation on electronic health record systems, and health promotion in Mexican-American and Asian-American populations.  She is funded as Principal investigator or co-investigator on research grants or contracts from American Association of Diabetes Educators, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholars Program, among others.

Wang has been an author and peer reviewer for many nursing and interprofessional journals. She also reviews grant proposals for American Nurse Foundation, National Institute of Health, and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

Wang received her Bachelor in Medicine, major in Nursing, from the Medical College of Nanchang University (formerly Jiangxi Medical College).  At the University of Pittsburgh, she earned her MSN, followed by the PhD in Nursing, the Multidisciplinary Master’s in Public Health and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science from its Medical School.
