Highlights:

  • 57% of YAEH had a history of foster care, juvenile justice involvement or both.
  • YAEH with system involvement had high rates of past trauma and mental disorders.
  • Juvenile justice involvement was associated with substance use problems and later arrest.
  • YAEH exposed to both systems were at especially high risk for problem indicators.
