(April 1, 2013) – More than 200 students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are expected to join the ranks of 8,650 other alumni of the UTHealth School of Nursing during the 2013 commencement ceremony to be held May 10, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B3 (third floor).
The 2013 commencement speaker will be James H. “Red” Duke, Jr., M.D., holder of the John B. Holmes Professorship in the Clinical Sciences at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and pioneer of Memorial Hermann’s Life Flight.

James H. “Red” Duke, Jr., M.D., holder of the John B. Holmes Professorship in the Clinical Sciences at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Duke has been a faculty member at the medical school since 1972. Known nationally for his syndicated television spot, “Dr. Red Duke’s Health Reports,” he was instrumental in introducing Memorial Hermann’s Life Flight and bringing a Level 1 Trauma Unit to Texas.
On May 9 at 6 p.m., all undergraduate nursing students will receive a keepsake School of Nursing pin (in silver) from the PARTNERS support organization. This traditional Awards and Pinning Ceremony will take place at the Bayou City Event Center, 9401 Knight Rd. Event parking is free.
