Cole discusses interventions for renal patients in Nursing Clinics of North America

(Oct. 30, 2018) – A new article by Assistant Professor Linda Cole, D.N.P., R.N., Department of Graduate Studies, is in press and now available online –

Cole, Linda C.  Psychosocial Issues and Lifestyle Changes for the Renal Patient. Nursing Clinics of North America 53 (2018) 589-600. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cnur.2018.07.008

The article provides a synopsis of the research regarding nonallopathic interventions applied to anxiety, depression and pain in renal patients.  It also discusses the role of palliative care regarding individualization of patient care, family support and effective communication using an interdisciplinary approach. Cole concludes that management of renal disease patients requires a multimodal approach combining allopathic and nonallopathic interventions.
