Sara Lewandowski is a native Houstonian who has over 20 years of nursing experience. She began her nursing career as a student in the Texas Medical Center while earning her associate's degree and double bachelor's degrees in nursing and communications. She earned her master's degree in nursing administration and post master's in nursing education from Texas Woman's University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chamberlain College of Nursing. Lewandowski holds certification as a nurse educator through the National League for Nursing. She has worked in medical surgical, rehabilitation and management aspects of nursing.

Lewandowski's scholarship interests include simulation and holistic health. She helped expand a simulation program for a 445-bed hospital in Houston during her doctoral program and has received several internal grants to improve simulation lab space, usage and faculty development. She has taught at both the associate degree and bachelor's degree levels for 10 years, serving as lead faculty and in administrative roles. Her teaching experience includes traditional clinical at nine hospitals throughout Houston, as well as didactic and online courses. She  teaches several courses in the RN-BSN and Pacesetter BSN program at Cizik School of Nursing.
