Robert Coghlan, PhD, RN, MA, MSN, CNS, FNP, has been involved healthcare for nearly 40 years and has been a nurse for 30 years.  His interest in Health Policy led him to The University of Houston, where he earned his PhD in Political Science where his fields of study were Policy Sciences, Methodology and American Government.  He completed his Dissertation “The Influence of the Media in Healthcare Reform” in 2011.

Dr. Coghlan has an extensive career in healthcare leadership, both in hospitals and the private sector.  His most recent leadership role was as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer where he led two emergency hospitals.  He also assisted in the development of three different electronic medical records, led the Forms Committee, reviewed and updated hospital and corporate-wide policies, developed new service lines, and served as a mentor to others.
