Dr. Laird is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing. He is certified as an adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In addition to teaching, he continues to practice as a nurse practitioner in pulmonary/critical care.
Dr. Laird attended Houston Baptist University where he received his Associate Degree in Nursing. While working as a critical care nurse, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler. He completed his Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing.
Dr. Laird has held various leadership positions in health care administration. He is active in local and state organizations and previously served as the Nurse Co-Leader for the Gulf-Coast Regional Leadership Team for Texas Team and was on the board of directors for the North Harris Montgomery County American Association of Critical Care Nurses. He is also the past president of Texas Nurses Association District 9.
