Nurses with graduate degrees who want to enhance their knowledge or take their career in a new direction may choose from several nondegree post-graduate options at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston.
In addition to the Nursing Education and Emergency Nurse Practitioner tracks, which are offered on a post-graduate basis only, nurses with graduate degrees may also complete coursework in our nurse practitioner tracks that will prepare them to take a certification exam for that practice specialization.
An academic advisor will work with you to create a customized course plan based on your interests and previously completed graduate coursework. Upon completion, students will receive a recognition of achievement issued by Cizik School of Nursing. A transcript noting the courses taken will also be available.
Nurse Practitioner Tracks
Cizik School of Nursing offers nurse practitioner tracks that prepare students to take national certification exams as advanced-practice providers.
Sample curricula for the nurse practitioner specialty tracks of our nondegree post-graduate completion program:
- Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Students who have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) may consider earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) through nurse practitioner tracks of our BSN to DNP program.
