Amy O. Calvin, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing in the Department of Undergraduate Studies. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her Master’s and PhD in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Calvin is a member of Providing Advancement Resources to Nursing Education, Research, and Students (PARTNERS) and Sigma Theta Tau International, Nursing Honor Society. She is the lead faculty for the Management of Patients in High Acuity Settings didactic and clinical courses and the Critical Synthesis Application course.

Clinical/Research Focus

Dr. Calvin’s research interests focus on advance care planning for patients receiving hemodialysis and communication among patients, families, and health care providers at the end of life. Dr. Calvin has published manuscripts related to end-of-life care and pain management.
