Matthew M Lewis, PhD, DNP, CRNA
Matthew Lewis obtained his BSN from The University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and took a position in his hometown of Houston, TX to practice in a high acuity coronary care unit. After practicing as an intensive care RN, Dr. Lewis returned to school to obtain his MSNA and DNP from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. He accepted a faculty position with the nurse anesthesia division at the UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing in 2013 and continued his education by completing his PhD in 2019. As a nurse anesthetist, Dr. Lewis has worked in both private practice and academic settings and currently maintains an active clinical practice in the Houston suburbs. Dr. Lewis’s primary research interests are centered around the interactions between cognitive load, state anxiety, and performance in the clinical setting. He currently serves as the assistant program director for the nurse anesthesia program and enjoys teaching anatomy and physiology as well as various other areas of nurse anesthesia practice.
