Linda Roussel, PhD, NEA-BC, CNL, FAAN, joined Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston effective August 1, 2021, as a professor in the Department of Graduate Studies. Before coming to UTHealth Houston, Dr. Roussel was a professor at University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served as the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program director. She received tenure at University of South Alabama Collage of Nursing and while serving as a professor, she managed the Executive Leadership and Clinical Nurse Leader tracks. Additionally, she was also instrumental in working with a team to establish the first post-master’s DNP program in Alabama. In addition to her academic career, Dr. Roussel also held nurse executive roles in acute and long-term healthcare systems. She also serves as a consultant in management and leadership and has published textbooks in the field. Dr. Roussel is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

Clinical/Research Focus

Dr. Roussel practice and research focus is nursing administration and leadership.  She champions and studies clinical nurse leadership and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) curriculum development and quality improvement projects.
