Allison Marshall, PhD, MPH, MSSW, is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar working under Dr. Daphne Hernandez in the Center for Nursing Research. She earned her PhD in Behavioral Sciences and Health Promotion and her Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston School of Public Health in Austin, Texas, her MSSW at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work, in Austin, Texas and her BA in Spanish-International Trade from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Marshall also studied abroad at el Centro Universitario Marista in Salamanca, Spain, where she continued developing her working written and spoken Spanish fluency.

Dr. Marshall has experience in Community-Based Participatory Research such as PhotoVoice, with applications including community health needs assessments and intervention development. Dr. Marshall’s research focuses on dietary behaviors, child and family health, community-based work, health disparities, and social determinants of health. She has worked on interventions focused on increasing nutrition and physical activity and decreasing childhood obesity. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Nutrients, Preventive Medicine Reports, and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
