Rashmi Prasla Momin, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, is an assistant professor in the graduate department. She is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and registered nurse with more than 13 years of experience. She focuses on managing patients with chronic conditions, particularly Type 2 Diabetes. Dr. Momin has worked extensively to provide innovative solutions that support and empower patients to manage diabetes as a part of their everyday lives. She owns and operates a successful telehealth practice called Vital Telecare, serving uninsured patients in Texas, particularly those living in underserved areas.

She received her BSN and MSN from the UTMB in Galveston and her DNP from Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Momin developed and implemented a nurse practitioner-led telehealth protocol as her DNP Project, which supported healthcare access to patients with chronic disease during the pandemic with excellent outcomes. The project findings were published in the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP) and will be presented to nursing professionals in various organizations like the Nursing Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, and Texas Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Momin has also collaborated with faculty from UTHealth on other chronic diseases and telehealth-focused studies and looks forward to continuing her work to teach students and provide innovative, patient-centered care.
