Kevin E. Burnett, BSBA is currently the Associate Dean for Management in the Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston).  This is Kevin’s 2nd stint with the Cizik School of Nursing returning to UTHealth Houston in April 2018 after serving as the Administrator for both the School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Prior to joining UTHealth Houston in December 2016, he served as the Administrative Director for the Neurosciences Institute at the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine where he played a key role in the Institute receiving status from the State of Illinois as the only state-recognized Neurosciences Institute in Illinois.  While as SIU, he also served as Assistant to the Chairman for the Departments of Psychiatry, Surgery and Neurology.

Kevin has over 37 years of senior leadership and administrative experience in higher education with previous roles as comptroller and internal auditor at Harris-Stowe State University, a Historically Black College or University in St. Louis, MO; cancer center administrator for the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX; business manager for the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO; and as Business Manager for the Department of Psychiatry also at Washington University.

Prior to higher education, he spent several years in the finance industry as an operations officer for the largest banking chain in Kansas City, MO.

He possesses as bachelor’s degree in Business from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO; an Associate Degree in accounting; and a Foundations of Banking Diploma from the American Institute of Banking.

Kevin currently or has maintained affiliations and memberships with the Business Officers of Nursing Schools (BONUS) of the American Association of College of Nursing (AACN), National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), National Association of University Research Administrators (NCURA), Society of Research Administrators (SRA), Association of Cancer Executives (ACE), Medical Group Managers Association (MGMA), and the Administrators in Academic Psychiatry (AAP) where he served on the executive board.
