Padmavathy Ramaswamy, PhD, MPH, APRN, FNP-BC, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Graduate Studies of Cizik School of Nursing. She has been a faculty at the Cizik School of Nursing since 2016 teaching in the Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. She is a member of the Interprofessional Education (IPE) executive council. She actively coordinates and leads various IPE activities as a member of the Center of Interprofessional Collaboration (CIPC).
She earned her BSN from University of Pune, India, and her MSN and MPH degrees from East Tennessee State University, Tennessee. She received her certificate in Applied Health Informatics from the School of Biomedical Informatics, and PhD in nursing and post-master’s certificate in Nursing Education from Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Science Center, Houston, Texas. She has been a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner for over 20 years. Her clinical experience spans the population and age-spectrum. She maintains an active clinical practice at UH Student Health Center.
Her doctoral research focused on the use of mobile health (mHealth) technology among South Asians living in the US. Her research interest focuses on use of mHealth and other technologies in disease prevention and health promotion, especially in older adults.

Clinical/Research Focus
Dr. Ramaswamy is actively involved in her research in the use of technology among older adults. In addition, she is working on various interprofessional and intra-professional educational projects in collaboration with other health profession schools within and outside UTHealth Houston. She strives to enhance the learning experience of the students and prepare them to function as effective team members. Her extensive experience as a clinician has helped in building innovative clinical simulation and educational strategies.
