New student admissions to the Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track for the BSN to DNP and post-graduate completion options are on hold as of the Fall 2023 semester.

 Adult/Gerontology Primary Care NP Track at a Glance

The Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) specialty track at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston prepares students to work with adults from adolescence throughout the lifespan with a focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and managing illnesses. 

Upon completion, students can apply to take the national certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).  Once certified, students can then apply for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Texas
