Dr. Lebaone Llulu Sayi, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, AGNP-BC, is a nurse practitioner with dual board certifications in Adult-Geriatric Primary Care and Psychiatric Mental Health. She has more than 18 years of nursing experience, including medical-surgical and psychiatric nursing, with over 13 years dedicated to post-acute care in skilled nursing rehabilitation and long-term care settings. In addition, she has served as adjunct clinical faculty in psychiatric mental health nursing at the Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Sayi's advanced practice nursing career has focused on helping patients recover following hospitalization and achieve their highest possible level of function. Her clinical expertise includes comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions in older adults, rehabilitation support, care coordination, and facilitating safe transitions across healthcare settings. She has extensive experience guiding patients and families through complex healthcare decisions associated with progressive physical and cognitive decline, including long-term care placement, care planning, and the integration of palliative and hospice services to enhance quality of life.
Her professional interests center on geriatric medicine, dementia care, and the intersection of physical and mental health in older adults. Her Doctor of Nursing Practice capstone project examined strategies to reduce the inappropriate use of antipsychotic medications for managing behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia in long-term care settings. This work reflects her commitment to evidence-based, person-centered care and improving outcomes for vulnerable older adults.
Driven by a passion for advancing mental healthcare among older populations, Dr. Sayi pursued additional board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This expanded expertise enables her to provide more comprehensive, holistic care that addresses both the medical and psychiatric needs of patients and supports their families throughout the continuum of care.
