Noemi Peterson is an instructor in Community/Public Health clinical nursing at Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). Her nursing career spans over 37 years in the fields of oncology, community health and integrative therapies. Her nursing teaching career includes 13 years of teaching experience in Community/Public Health at Cizik and 6 years as nursing instructor/coordinator for an LVN program at a community college in South Texas, as well as Oncology Nurse Educator, a consultant for the Oncology Nursing Society.
She is a holistic nurse with extensive trainings and certifications in Energy Medicine, Homeopathy, Mindfulness, relaxation, meditation and other integrative therapies. As part of her health promotion focus, she introduces nursing students to self-care techniques that include some of these approaches. Her experiences in these fields include research in the Pain and Symptom Management, and the Integrative Medicine Departments of a large cancer institution in Houston, Texas. She has co-authored several articles in these fields.
