D'Hania L. Miller

D’hania L. Miller serves as an Undergraduate Instructor in the Department of Undergraduate Studies at the UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing. With over 25 years of experience as a professional nurse, she brings a wealth of clinical expertise and educational insight to her role. She joined Cizik in 2019 as a Simulation Nurse Educator, where she was instrumental in designing immersive clinical simulations, support student skill development, and cultivating community partnerships to advance nursing education and patient care.

In her current role, Ms. Miller focuses on foundational patient care skills, simulated clinical environments, and introductory research competencies, all aimed at enhancing students’ clinical judgement and critical thinking abilities. Her extensive clinical background spans perinatal care, liver transplantation, acute care, and community health nursing.

Ms. Miller also serves as the Training center Coordinator for the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Heartcode and Stop the Bleed programs at UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing. She is an active member in several professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Zeta Pi Chapter), where she currently holds the position of Activities Chair. She is also affiliated with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and holds the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential.

Her professional memberships include the Prairie View A&M Alumni Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Texas Nurses Association. She is deeply engaged in community service throughout the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area, contributing to organization such as Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (Houston Chapter), NAACP (Barbara Jordan Chapter), and volunteering at local food pantries.

Clinical/Research Focus

Ms. Miller’s academic interests center on applying social mobility theory to the development of nursing pipeline programs that address occupational and socioeconomic barriers to nursing education. She is particularly focused on exploring the role of social support in influencing nursing career choices among economically disadvantaged youth. Her long-term goal is to develop a replicable model for stackable degree programs bridge high school career and technical education (CTE) pathways with post-secondary institutions and industry employers.
