"Precepting Nursing Students Successfully: What do you need to know?"
Event Description
Presented by Kris L'Ecuyer, PhD, RN, CNL, CNE, an Associate Professor at Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing. She is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Pre-licensure Nursing Education. She has over 25 years of nursing education and administration experience. Her research interests include nurse preceptor training, preceptor competency, nursing students with learning disabilities, interprofessional education, certification for the Clinical Nurse Leader Role, and issues related to transition to practice and impacts on the nursing workforce. She has worked with the Missouri Hospital Association since 2009 to prepare nurse preceptors through the Missouri Preceptor Academy. An outgrowth of her research and work with preceptors has resulted in the development of The Preceptor Self-Assessment Tool (PSAT-40), a validated research tool, now licensed through Saint Louis University. The PSAT-40 is being used across the country by nurse researchers and nurse educators to support preceptor education.
This event will provide 5.5 contact hours of nursing professional development. Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth is accredited as a provider of continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
