ED Nurses' Jobs Change Daily with COVID-19

Elda Ramirez, PhD, ENP-C, directed student nurses at the George R. Brown Convention Center who cared for people displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, but in her 30 years as an ED nurse, she has never seen anything like COVID-19.

Fellowship teaches selected BSN students to care for people with disabilities

Pacesetter BSN student Dawn Modic (pictured) says her participation in the second cohort of Cizik School of Nursing’s Joan and Stanford Alexander Fellowship in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is the best experience of her nursing career so far. Cohort Three is the largest group yet!

NIH funds Santa Maria’s project on HIV prevention among youth experiencing homelessness for $3 million

The National Institute of Nursing Research of the NIH will support a new five-year research project by Dr. Diane M. Santa Maria (pictured), interim dean of Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth, with a new grant (R01NR017837) totaling more than $3 million titled,Come As You Are – Assessing the Efficacy of a Nurse Case Management HIV Prevention and Care Intervention among Homeless Youth.”
