Anitra Frederick, PhD, RN, CNE has been a nurse for over 15 years. She started her nursing career in neonatal and perinatal nursing and has been a nurse educator since 2012. Dr. Frederick’s research interests include mother-baby attachment, nursing intervention during the perinatal and post-partum periods, and the use of skin-to-skin contact during cesarean delivery. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and given numerous presentations to disseminate her work. Dr. Frederick was recently named an American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing editorial fellow for 2021.

Dr. Frederick received her BSN from Texas Woman’s University-Houston, her MSN on the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care track and her Post-MSN in Nursing Education from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In 2013, she earned her PhD from UTHSC-Houston School of Nursing as the Texas Children’s Hospital Scholar in the first cohort of the Accelerated PhD program.
