Frederick named Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies
Assistant Professor Anitra Frederick, PhD, RN, CNE, has been named Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston effective March 1, 2025.
Frederick previously served as director of the accelerated Pacesetter Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from 2021-2023.
“Dr. Frederick has been a dedicated leader and educator in nursing, bringing a wealth of experience in academic leadership, program development, and student mentorship. She has played a pivotal role in shaping undergraduate nursing education, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery and student success,” said Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Erica Yu, PhD, RN, FANP. “Her research contributions, particularly in maternal-child health and nursing education, have been widely recognized in national and international forums.”
Frederick became an assistant professor at Cizik School of Nursing after earning her PhD here in 2013. She taught at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Nursing from 2018-2020 before returning to her alma mater. She also holds a Master of Science in Nursing on the pediatric nurse practitioner-primary care track from Cizik School of Nursing, where she completed a post-graduate program in nursing education. She received her BSN from Texas Woman’s University-Houston and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University.
“Dr. Frederick’s commitment to nursing education and scholarship has made a lasting impact on the Cizik School of Nursing community,” Yu said. “In her new role as Assistant Dean for the Department of Undergraduate Studies, she will continue to lead with innovation, fostering academic excellence and supporting faculty and student development.”
