Haley DeLaGarza, DNP, CRNA, is the interim assistant director of the Nurse Anesthesia Division at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston, where she holds an academic rank of assistant professor of clinical nursing. She practices clinically as a pediatric CRNA at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, providing anesthesia to a diverse patient population and various surgical disciplines within both the general and cardiac anesthesia divisions.

A lifelong Texan, Dr. DeLaGarza attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. She worked in the insurance industry and provided adult education and product training curriculums on a national platform prior to obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UTHealth. Dr. DeLaGarza subsequently practiced emergency and critical care nursing for several years before returning to UTHealth and earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. While earning her DNP, Dr. DeLaGarza accepted a gubernatorial appointment to serve as the student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Dr. DeLaGarza is an active participant in the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists (TxANA) with previous service on the public relations committee and current service on the education committee. She is most proud of her role as mother to three sons.

Clinical/Research Focus

Dr. DeLaGarza has focused her clinical scholarship on integrating theoretical and experiential knowledge to positively impact special patient populations. Her pedagogical interests include harnessing emotional intelligence into resilience for operating room teams and translating student didactic engagement into lifelong professional learning and advocacy.
