Anitra Frederick

Anitra Frederick, PhD, RN, CNE, has been a nurse for over 15 years. She started her nursing career in neonatal and perinatal nursing and has been a nurse educator since 2012. Dr. Frederick has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and given numerous presentations to disseminate her work. She was recently named an American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing editorial fellow for 2021.

Dr. Frederick received her BSN from Texas Woman’s University-Houston, her MSN on the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care track and her Post-MSN in Nursing Education from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In 2013, she earned her PhD from Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston as the Texas Children’s Hospital Scholar in the first cohort of the Accelerated PhD program.

Clinical/Research Focus

Dr. Frederick’s research interests include mother-baby attachment, nursing intervention during the perinatal and post-partum periods, and the use of skin-to-skin contact during cesarean delivery.
