Mahrokh "Mitzy" Kobeissi, DNP, APRN, FNP-C is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center Cizik School of Nursing. As a pioneer in pre-pandemic telehealth use, she leverages her experience with technology to prepare the next generation of advanced practice nurses for contemporary healthcare environments. Dr. Kobeissi's teaching philosophy centers on developing providers with relevant skills to drive optimal health outcomes. 

With nationally recognized expertise in telehealth, Dr. Kobeissi is committed to enhancing the safety, quality, and equity of telehealth care delivery through impactful publications and active policy engagement. Dr. Kobeissi serves on the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties' Telehealth Committee, to advance best practices in telehealth education and policy. 

In her academic role, she leads multiple didactic courses to influence nurse practitioner education. She has developed virtual clinical protocols at the forefront of simulation learning to build competencies during the recent public health crisis.

Dr. Kobeissi's publications and presentations address critical issues in telehealth safety, health equity, policy, and integration in nurse practitioner education. She embraces innovation in nursing curriculum, instructional design, and health technology to expand healthcare access for vulnerable populations and build tomorrow’s nurse leaders today.

Clinical/Research Focus

Dr. Kobeissi’s area of clinical scholarship and publication includes telehealth and safer telecare. She serves on a national telehealth committee for NONPF. Dr. Kobeissi currently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner one day per week at University of Texas Health Services, offering patients in-person and virtual health services.
