Mitzy Kobeissi, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, has been a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner for 11 years. At Cizik School of Nursing, her teaching duties encompass leading multiple courses in the graduate program, specifically Family Nurse Practitioner 1 Didactic. She also has led multiple DNP courses.
Dr. Kobeissi joined the faculty of UTHealth Houston in January 2018 as a clinical faculty. After working as a clinical faculty for two semesters, she joined the faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Graduate studies. Dr. Kobeissi owns and previously operated a telehealth service starting pre-pandemic. She has provided virtual care to patients across the state of Texas.
Dr. Kobeissi has integrated telehealth fundamentals into the MSN and BSN-DNP FNP program. Dr. Kobeissi blended her online telehealth experience in leading the FNP program through the transition to an interactive online learning platform. Dr. Kobeissi incorporates adult game-based learning during live interactive sessions with students and draws the highest number of students joining an online virtual class.
Dr. Kobeissi is a member of AANP, NONPF, Sigma Theta Tau. Among her significant honors are: The 2020 Good Samaritan Excellence in Nursing Award, Faculty Award of Excellence/DNP Program, PARTNERS Scholar, Accelerated DNP Scholarship.

Clinical/Research Focus
Dr. Kobeissi’s area of clinical scholarship and publication includes telehealth and safer telecare. She serves on a national telehealth committee for NONPF. Dr. Kobeissi currently practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner one day per week at University of Texas Health Services, offering patients in-person and virtual health services.
