Advancing Nursing Science
Associate Professor Allison P. Edwards, DrPH, MSN, RN, CNE, CDDN, FAAN, received a $150,000, two-year grant from the Macy’s Foundation to develop a toolkit to help nursing schools adopt and implement inclusive technical standards that can open doors for potential students with different abilities. The study is titled “Project DNA: A blueprint and reference guide inspiring DIVERSITY in NURSING education toward ADOPTING inclusive technical standards.”
Assistant Professor Emily Barr, PhD, CPNP-PC, CNM, FACNM, FAAN, is a lead co-investigator on a study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The project, “UPLIFT: Understanding Practices of Lactation and Infant Feeding Together with Women with HIV (U01PS005288-01-00),” examines infant feeding practices in people living with HIV in the United States.
Assistant Professor Higinio Fernández-Sánchez, PhD, RN, brings his HIV prevention expertise to Spanish speakers in Houston with a $50,000 grant from the Texas Development Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR). The study is titled “HIV/STI prevention among Spanish speakers in Houston, Texas.”
