Bergstrom doctoral scholarship focuses on gerontology
A new permanent scholarship endowment has been established at Cizik School of Nursing by retired Professor Nancy Bergstrom, PhD, RN, FAAN. The Nancy Bergstrom Gerontological Nursing Scholarship will provide an annual award to a doctoral student with a study concentration in gerontology. This permanent scholarship builds on Dr. Bergstrom’s previous 18 years of philanthropic support.
“Cizik School of Nursing would like to extend its deepest thanks to Dr. Bergstrom for this generous endowment,” said Dean Diane Santa Maria, DrPH, MSN, RN. “This gift will inspire and aid the next generation of nursing students committed to research and patient care.”
Dr. Bergstrom held many positions during her tenure at the school. She served as Director of the Center on Aging, Associate Dean for Research, and the Theodore J. and Mary E. Trumble Professor in Aging Research. Her interactions with students and faculty while serving in these positions inspired Dr. Bergstrom to make her gift to Cizik School of Nursing
