New student admissions to the Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track for the BSN to DNP and post-graduate completion options are on hold effective for the Fall 2023 semester.

 Adult/Gerontology Primary Care NP Track at a Glance

The Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) specialty track at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston prepares you to work with adults from adolescence throughout the lifespan with a focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and managing illnesses. 

Upon completion, you can apply to take the national certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).  Once certified, you can then apply for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Texas

The baccalaureate degree in nursing, master’s degree in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The baccalaureate program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.
