The Master of Science in Nursing program at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston is grounded in standards of practice for nursing leadership and administration and essential nurse manager knowledge, skills, and attitudes. This curriculum fully meets national quality standards and guidelines for graduate education in nursing leadership and administration. Leadership theory, evidence-based management, business concepts, finance, and advanced knowledge of nursing and healthcare management are included in this program of study.
Nursing Leadership
In addition to the MSN program, Cizik School of Nursing offers Nursing Leadership as a nondegree post-graduate program track for students who have a graduate nursing degree with focus in another specialty area. In most cases, post-graduate students are required to take only the track courses. The number of courses required will be determined during the admission interview, if offered.

Family Nurse Practitioner
The sample curriculum below lists classes for Cizik School of Nursing's MSN Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track. However, students are encouraged to explore the BSN to DNP option, which allows students to seamlessly advance their education to the doctoral level. In addition, nurses who have a graduate degree may prepare for certification as an FNP through the nondegree post-graduate completion program.
After being admitted to the FNP track, students can apply to concurrently enroll in the Emergency/Trauma Care post-graduate concentration.
