Take your career to the next level

The Advancing Transformational Nursing Leadership (ATNL) program is designed for experienced nursing leaders to further develop skills by learning from subject-matter experts in health informatics, advocacy/health policy, strategic planning, and other advanced leadership topics. The program is a five-month commitment, with blended online and in-person classes occurring once a month. The initial and final six-hour classes will be in person at Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston, with three four-hour live, virtual classes in between.

Continuing professional development contact hours will be provided.

Program objectives:

  • Analyze the role of emotional intelligence, intentional communication, and leadership presence in leading across disciplines, specialties, and complex healthcare environments.
  • Examine strategies nurse leaders use to navigate ambiguity, organizational change, boundary spanning, matrix structures, and interprofessional collaboration.
  • Evaluate how informatics, data, artificial intelligence, innovation, strategic planning, and succession planning influence nursing leadership practice and organizational outcomes.
  • Discuss opportunities for nurse leaders to strengthen advocacy, professional influence, networking, public speaking, social media presence, and engagement in organizational, political, and public platforms.
