Nurse Leadership and Administration Track at a Glance

The BSN to DNP in Nursing Leadership and Administration track is an advanced practice doctoral pathway designed for registered nurses who are ready to shape the future of healthcare. This program equips emerging and experienced nurse leaders with the strategic, operational, and evidence-based competencies needed to guide organizations through today’s complex clinical, financial, and regulatory landscape.

This track prepares nurses to function as high-level leaders who can influence systems of care, drive organizational improvement, and champion quality, safety, and innovation. Graduates are positioned to assume leadership, administrative, and executive roles across varied healthcare settings.

    • Admit Terms: BSN to DNP – Fall admission (spring beginning in 2028); Post-master’s – fall and spring admission
    • Average Completion: 8-10 semesters
    • Credit Requirements: BSN-DNP – 69 credit hours; post-master’s – minimum 42 credit hours
    • Educational Mode: Mostly online with on-site practice experiences
      Enrollment Level: Degree program offers a mix of full- and part-time semesters

Meet Our Track Coordinator

At Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston, excellence begins with our outstanding faculty, like Associate Professor Debbie Cline, DNP, RN, CNL, OCN, NEA-BC. Dr. Cline earned her BSN, MSN, and DNP from Cizik School of Nursing, and prior to joining the school, she served in clinical and management positions for many years at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, including a decade as associate director of nursing workforce planning and development.

As a Nursing Leadership and Administration student, you may work with colleagues in any of UTHealth Houston’s seven schools.
